Arthur Wolstenholme, managing director Vanwall Cars,  began designing cars in 1984 of which his first car was on display at the National Classic Motor Show of 1985. Called the Alicat, this was an aluminium bodied, Jaguar powered, sports racing car.

In 1987 Ronart Cars Ltd, was formed to manufacture the W152 in Peterborough and over one hundred cars have been completed since.

The following year saw development of the W152 along similar lines and this car was first used in October 1986. This prototype pictured above,  was used daily for many years.

Both the Jaguar straight 6 XK engines and the Jaguar V12 engines up to 6.3 litre 580 bhp V12  have been used in the design.

In 1999 Arthur designed a modern sports car later to be called the Lightning. This was a state-of-the-art carbon fibre bodied supercar powered by a 4.6 litre 32valve, 325 bhp V8 Mustang Cobra engine.

In August 2003 Arthur Wolstenholme discussed with the Dana Corporation of USA and Vandervell Bearings the name of Vanwall and the possibility of bringing back the Vanwall name for an exciting new range of high performance cars for both road and track.

In November 2003 an agreement was reached for Arthur Wolstenholme to lease the world exclusive rights under licence of the famous and highly regarded historic Vanwall name. The company Vanwall Cars was formed and design and development started on new designs to carry the Vanwall name back into high performance cars and motor sport.

The first of these new designs, the Vanwall GPR V12 was first released at the Historic Motor Sports Show fourteen months later in February 2005.

Vanwall Cars are now looking for strategic partners to take the name forward into new car development and racing activities. This investment provides exciting opportunities  at this early stage of re-establishing the Vanwall name.

Vanwall are also looking for territorial distributors for Vanwall products in Europe, USA and the Far East.
